The range, scale and visibility of my Director of Innovation and Development role at the Thomas Deacon Academy was a terrific proving ground for all I'd learnt in my previous school leadership positions.

I was headteacher of Hereward Community College from 2003 - 2007. The multiple challenges faced by this school meant that the achievements of staff and students in those 4 years rightly attracted considerable plaudits, not least for the improvement in the 5+ GCSE A*-C rate from 23% - 64%.

ICT has been an ever-present in my career - from the A-level guide laboriously produced on the dept bbc-b over my first summer break, to the £2.5m budget for the Academy's nationally recognised ICT solution, via a few stopping points on the way...
